Tom Middleton: Time Echoes
A conscious, connected deep listening journey through sound - from cosmos to life on Earth and beyond.
Using a finely tuned 360° spatial audio environment informed by neuroscience and vibroacoustic research, Time Echoes is an immersive listening experience designed to be both heard and physically felt.
Presented in near-darkness, the work moves through vast scales of existence – from sonified planetary and stellar data, through geophony (the elemental sounds of Earth), biophony (the sounds of living organisms), and anthropophony (human voice, music, and culture) – forming a living exploration of acoustic ecology.
The score by Tom Middleton weaves these elements into a continuous sonic narrative that reveals hidden, fragile, and endangered sonic worlds while encouraging presence, relaxation, emotional resonance, and human connection.
The experience opens with gentle guided breathwork and concludes with a collective humming practice designed to support breath regulation, relaxation, and shared resonance.

Seating
Seating is first come, first served – arrive early to choose your spot. Three seating options are available:
Zero-G Loungers – Float
Fully reclined Zero-G loungers with full-body mattresses positioned within the central acoustic sweet spot, creating a floating, deeply immersive listening experience where sound appears to dissolve the boundaries between body and space.
Togo Recliners – Feel
Low reclined Togo seating at floor level and positioned closer to the sub-bass field, emphasising the physical and vibrational qualities of sound throughout the body.
Cinema Seating – Immerse
An upright listening perspective offering detailed clarity and full spatial immersion across the 360° sound environment.
Sound System
Time Echoes is presented on a L-Acoustics 17.1.10 spatial audio system: 17 speakers surrounding you at ear level, 10 speakers overhead, and a dedicated sub channel with four subwoofers at the front of the room. The result is sound that doesn’t just surround you – it envelops you from every direction simultaneously, including above.
Tom Middleton has designed Time Echoes specifically for this environment. The experience is mixed and calibrated to take full advantage of the room’s spatial capabilities.
