Pixies - Bossanova

Album Playback in 360º spatial audio

Pixies are one of alternative rock’s most quietly radical bands. Formed in Boston in 1986, Charles Thompson (Black Francis), Kim Deal, Joey Santiago, and David Lovering built a sound on tension and contrast – hushed verses erupting into feral choruses, punk aggression colliding with pop melody, all of it wrapped in Thompson’s surreal, unsettling imagery.

Released in 1990, Bossanova marked a turning point for the band. With Gil Norton back at the desk, the group folded in keyboards and richer, more atmospheric production, while Thompson’s lyrics drifted skyward – UFOs, outer space, and sci-fi B-movies replacing the album’s predecessors’ more grounded oddities. The result is Pixies at their most widescreen and hypnotic.

Now, in a new 2026 remaster by Kevin Vanbergen, we invite you to experience the full album from start to finish, played back at the Polygon Portal.

Every reverb-drenched guitar line, every shift from a whisper to a scream, surrounds you completely.

This is Bossanova as you’ve never heard it before.
