Polygon Portal FAQ’s

Where exactly are you?

We’re on Dean St, Soho. The full address and directions are shared with ticket holders after purchase.

What is Polygon Portal?

Polygon Portal is a spatial audio listening room in the heart of Soho. It’s a dedicated space designed for immersive, three-dimensional sound experiences. Think of it as a cinema, but for your ears.

What is spatial audio?

Spatial audio is sound that surrounds you in three dimensions. Unlike traditional stereo (left and right) or surround sound, spatial audio places individual sounds at precise points around and above you, creating the sensation of being inside the music or soundscape rather than listening to it from the outside.

What kind of sessions do you host?

We host curated album playbacks, album launches, artist listening parties, ambient and meditative sound journeys, film score sessions, DJ nights and occasional live performances mixed for our spatial system. Our programme rotates weekly.

Do I need to bring headphones?

No, and please don’t. The whole point of Polygon Portal is the room itself. Our speaker array is the instrument, calibrated to deliver a shared, communal listening experience that headphones can’t replicate.

Is there a cloakroom?

There is no official cloakroom at Polygon Portal. We operate a small bag policy in line with standard venue guidelines – bags must be no larger than A4 size (approximately 30cm x 21cm). There are shelves at the entrance where you can store your coat, bag and shoes during the session. These are left at your own risk.

How long is a typical session?

Most sessions run 45 to 75 minutes. Album playbacks usually match the album’s runtime plus a short introduction. Sound journeys tend to run a bit longer.

What can I expect when I arrive?

We want you to settle in and get comfortable. On arrival you’ll be offered an eye mask if you’d like to deepen the experience and shut out visual distractions, a lollipop (delicious, and handy for keeping coughs at bay during quiet passages), and the option to slip your shoes off and stay a while. None of it is required, just there if you want it.

Can we talk during a session?

For most of our sessions — album playbacks, sound journeys, film scores — we ask that you don’t. Silence is part of the experience: it’s what lets the room do its work and lets everyone else fall fully into the sound. Save the conversation for the bar before and after; you’ll have plenty to talk about. A handful of sessions, like DJ nights and certain hosted events, are more relaxed. We’ll always make it clear in the listing which is which.

What’s your phone policy?

Polygon Portal is a phone-free space. On arrival, you’ll be asked to place your phone in a sealed pouch, which stays with you throughout the session. The pouch can be opened in a genuine emergency, but otherwise we ask that it stays closed. No screens, no notifications, no glow. The point is presence: yours, ours, and everyone else’s in the room. Trust us, the music sounds better when nothing is pulling at your attention.

Can I leave the room during a session?

If you need to step out, you can. Toilets are located on the first floor. We’d just ask that you slip out quietly between tracks where possible, out of respect for everyone else listening.

Is there a bar?

Yes and we’re genuinely excited about it. Our bar is run by Nine Lives, one of the most exciting bar operators around, serving beautiful cocktails, thoughtfully chosen drinks, and a selection of nootropics. Alongside them, Potent Fungi will be pouring delicious functional mushroom teas. Perfect whether you’re looking to sharpen up before a session or wind down after one. The bar is open before and after every session.

How do I book?

Tickets and reservations are available through our website. We recommend booking in advance as capacity is intentionally limited to preserve the experience.

What does it cost?

Ticket prices vary by session, typically ranging from standard listening sessions to premium artist events. Members receive discounted rates and priority booking.

Is there a membership option?

Yes. Membership includes priority booking, member-only sessions, and guest privileges.

Can I bring food or drinks?

Outside food and drink aren’t permitted, but the bar (see above) has you covered before and after sessions. During the listening itself, we ask guests to refrain from eating, and drinks are limited to keep the room quiet.

Is the space accessible?

Unfortunately not. The space is not currently wheelchair or step-free accessible, and we’re sorry for that. If you have specific access requirements you’d like to discuss, please do get in touch before your visit and we’ll do our best to help.

Can I host a private event there?

Absolutely. Polygon Portal is available for private hire. This includes album launches, brand activations, intimate gigs, and private listening parties. Reach out via our contact page for availability and rates.

What’s the dress code?

There isn’t one. Come comfortable.
